What is glass manifestation?
Manifestation is a treatment applied to glass windows, doors, and partitions in order to make the glass more visible. It usually comes in the form of a patterned or plain frosted film.
Manifestation serves several purposes:
- The glass is more visible, reducing the risk of injuries from collisions
- Confidential conversations can be carried out with more privacy
- Patterned or branded manifestations enhance the look of your office and promote company culture
Legal requirements
As outlined in Approved Document K, glass manifestation is a legal requirement for workspaces featuring large panes of transparent glazing. Without manifestation, people may not see the glass and walk into it, risking serious injury.
The minimum requirement is two rows of frosted dots at either 50 or 70mm, set at both 800mm and 1500mm off the floor. As long as you have met this requirement, you can start becoming a lot more creative with your design.
